My story …..
It actually started out picture perfect. When I first met my in-laws they could not have been more charming and they said all the right things..I thought I hit the in-law jackpot!
Sadly that did not last… I discovered after getting married (..with the first signs rearing its ugly head at my wedding!) it was not going to be rainbows and unicorns, but rather war and battlefield.
It was welcome to my new life and if I expected to be the primary and leading lady in my married life and household, I was dead wrong.
That role was already taken by my dear mother-in-law (aka “The Queen”). The Queen needs to be the star and number one with all and everything including my dear husband (aka the perfect loyal dutiful “Mama’s Boy”). Yikes!!
So did this startling realization mean I was destined to be the distant duchess and the second fiddle for the rest of my life ?? Umm, no… because that would be signing up for a lifetime of misery..
It took time for my naturally quiet self to find my voice and advocate for myself, my marriage, and “my turn” in the role of wife and mama.

I created this site because I always found so much solace and support in hearing other’s stories and knowing I was not alone.
I also became an unexpected expert as I spent tons of time educating myself and researching about this very common challenge in order to gain insight and learn tips on how to navigate.
